In November 2004, the Project „Construction of ResMAN Regional Broadband Network of the Rzeszow conurbation, stage I” was classified to the financial support of the Integrated Operational Program of Regional Development amounting to 75% of the investment costs in the project competition of 2004. The total sum of expenditures amounts to 8.8 million PLN, including the Operational Program of Regional Development of 6.6 million PLN, State budget support – 217 thousand PLN, own participation -1.900 thousand PLN. In total, 91 objects (office and education buildings) are connected to the network, on a half of which radio Internet access points for inhabitants are installed. The range of those points amounts to 100 – 300 m from schools, coverage about 60% of the city area before the extension. At the II stage of network extension, which is in the phase of the factual assessment now (the formal assessment has been successfully carried out), the full coverage of the city with the wireless access network with inclusion of communal companies’ buildings, apart from the municipal offices, is assumed. Diverse functions are supported within this network including street monitoring, central traffic lights control at crossings, internal local network for schools - with software for school budget management, as well as Internet with Internet telephony. Some other services shall be implemented in the communal network, which are necessary for efficient operation of the communal infrastructure and inhabitants, especially in crisis situations.

The new and dynamically prospering Rzeszow conurbation area must, among other functions, provide the common Internet access - first of all using the infrastructure of the . These points, accessible to all people in the rang thereof, are, among others, the base of the strengthening of citizen society in the XXI century in the nomenclature of the European Community called information society.
